Screen name: jaykrz
What do you specialize in: Maybe Hold'em? I thought i was good at all of the mixes, but I recently looked at some of my results and NLH was the only game I was doing well in.
Occupation: Software Developer
City residing in: Windsor Ontario, Canada
Tell us about your Family: Beautiful wife I've been with since we were 15. Lucked out with "millionaire's family", one son (10 years) and one daughter (7 years).
Pets: 2 orange cats (Pumpkin and Spice) and a recent addition puppy Pomsky (Gizmo).
How long have you been playing poker: Since 2003? Maybe earlier. I really started playing regularly in 2004 online.
I remember my first job cutting grass at a golf course, I had this little video player, larger than a cellphone, I would load it up with old WPT episodes and listen to Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patten commentate on headphones while I cut grass all day.
Took an extended break from Poker shortly after Black Friday when the online games got a lot harder to win at. Started back a few years ago.
What drew you to poker: Originally a social game with friends, also was winning which made it more fun.
Favorite poker game: Early years, I loved Sit N Gos when they were really profitable I would load up 20+ at a time.
More recently, Spin N Gos. When they first came out, I thought they were dumb, but after watching a few streamers and did a little bit of studying I found out how beatable they were. Especially, when Ontario became geofenced and I didn't have to play crushers around the globe.
I really want Phenom to get them, but I know we need a large player base before they will get added.
Favorite starting hand: I don't know... the one that will spike the nuts.
Live or online: Online, 100%. Allows me to stay at home with the family. I can do other stuff while playing.
I do like live, but have only played a handful of times. It's kind of weird given that I live 5 minutes away from the poker room at Caesars Windsor. I did play there recently and it was very fun having a couple beers, socializing with strangers and playing cards. I hope to find more time to do it.
Favorite poker room: Online? Phenom currently, I usually move around and try them all out. But with the token and the incentive to play here, almost all of my volume has been on Phenom.
Live? The poker room at Caesars Windsor (pretty much the only place I've ever played).
Poker Pro you admire most: No way I could pick a specific player.... I enjoy a lot of the characters in Poker.
Biggest poker win: I chopped the Double Deuce on Full Tilt Poker back in the day for 17.5k when it was getting a gazillion runners.
Best poker experience: Probably, that Double Deuce chop, it allowed me to have some extra money to plan our wedding.
More recently was seeing the PHNM token price sore to 3.50, especially because I had a nice chunk of them from playing on the site back in December when they were 0.27 cents.
Poker pet peeve: I really don't like when players berate other players for plays that they made.
If you could sit down with any 5 people to play poker with, who would you pick: Another one of those questions, I really have no idea.... so let's just pick some the greats that have passed. Doyle, Gavin Smith, Stu Ungar, Mike Sexton, Layne Flack.
Phenom Nemesis (all in fun): Carmanhani, this streamer is crushing it on Phenom and other sites.... just look at his Sharkscope. He has taken way to many Double Board Bomb Pots from me.
What brought you to Phenom: I listened Jungleman's podcasts that had Matt Valeo called Phenom Poker - The Player-Owned Poker Site: A Revolution in the Making.
Matt was saying a lot of interesting things about the site pre launch and it prompted me to checkout the Discord and play on the site first day. I really thought the model on how Phenom works made a lot of sense to me.
I also have always hoarded all of my rewards from other sites like FTPs, FPPs back in the day, I don't know why, I just liked collecting them and seeing how many I could get. Naturally, holding PHNM makes even more sense to hold and was something I was interested in.
Hobbies outside of poker: Spending time with fam.
Favorite sports teams: Detroit Lions.
Favorite types of music and bands to listen to: My favorites change often, right now its Kid Cudi, Twenty One Pilots, Sub Focus, Fred Again..., Whethan. I don't know, it's always changing, whatever I hear and like, I listen to it to the death and move onto something else.
Favorite TV show: Really liking Landman right now.
Favorite meal: Chicken wings.
What are you usually doing when playing online: Almost anything, I usually have a table loaded on my phone while doing dishes, laundry, grocery shopping, cutting the grass, walking the dog, etc.
If I have more than 1 table up, that is the time where I am focusing specifically playing poker and nothing else.
Any Final Words: Since playing on Phenom I've just felt there's something special about it. Kind of the pre Black Friday feeling. I am constantly getting excited about all of the new features and new games getting added.
I look forward every Monday to see how much revenue share I received or what the token price will be.
I've never promoted a site so hard. To reference the guys were talking about in the latest On The Button podcast with Matt, Brian and Alec, I actually have equity in the early stages of a company and site that I actually look forward in succeeding. I've accumulated a nice chunk of these tokens that I am very invested in seeing the site grow now.
And it's great to talk to other players, the Phenom team and ambassadors that are all wanting and working toward the same thing. It's just so cool and creates a great dynamic for everyone involved.
