Getting to know the Phenom Community - JAR444

If you’ve played on Phenom for any amount of time, there’s a good chance you’ve tangled with JAR444. That’s Adam. He’s been playing poker for over 20 years, thinks the game through, and still gets genuinely excited about learning new formats.
Vegas-based but rarely sitting still, Adam splits time between real estate, tech investing, and grinding cards wherever the sun is shining. He came up on NLH, has gone deep down the PLO rabbit hole lately (4, 5, and 6-card), and somehow ended up hooked on draw games after landing on Phenom.
Adam’s a math guy at heart, loves getting creative with hands, and has zero patience for players who try to make the game worse instead of better. He’s played the WSOP Main Event, put together five-figure days online, and still treats poker like the social game it’s supposed to be.
In this Getting to Know the Phenoms, Adam talks about how he found poker, why Phenom finally pulled him in, his favorite battles, and why he thinks players are sitting on something special here.
Adam “JAR444”
Name: I go by my middle name, Adam. My first name is the same as my grandfather’s, but my parents preferred Adam which explains the “J” in my screen name.
Screen name: JAR444

What do you specialize in: Primarily NLH, but I’ve been diving deep into PLO (4, 5, and 6 card) lately. I’m also getting hooked on draw games since joining Phenom.
Occupation: Real estate and technology investor with a side of poker.
City residing in: Las Vegas but I’ve spent a lot of time in FL and HI recently as well. I chase the sun!
Tell us about your Family: I have a beautiful wife who I have been with for 8 years. I have one sibling, a younger brother. I have some friends who I consider my brothers as well.
Pets: A senior miniature pinscher/Italian greyhound mix breed dog who is the best boy ever.
How long have you been playing poker: 20+ years.
What drew you to poker: I’ve always been a math guy. I competed in math competitions when I was a kid. I grew up playing card games, other than poker, with my family but when I was 18 a good friend got me into poker and I’ve been playing it ever since.
Favorite poker game: Really enjoying PLO right now. I need to get better at it.
Favorite starting hand: Rockets (Double suited in PLO)! But I love getting creative with suited connectors and single/double gappers.
Live or online: Mostly online because of travel, but I love the social side of live poker. Huge fan of Phenom bringing back the chat box.
Favorite poker room: Wynn in Vegas. If you ever play there, try their complementary carrot or watermelon juice.
Poker Pro you admire most: Michael Mizrachi (recency bias after his epic summer). I chatted with him at WSOP years ago and he’s a very genuine dude. Also shared a WSOP Main Day 1 table with his brother, Robert. Great guy as well.
Biggest poker win: $14.7k for 3rd in an online Sunday major a couple years ago. Had some other five-figure days back when I grinded heavier volume as well.
Best poker experience: Playing the WSOP Main Event. Nothing has compared for me.
Poker pet peeve: Players berating others. We need more people in the game, not fewer. I’ve become the guy who calls out the bullies.
If you could sit down with any 5 people to play poker with, who would you pick: Tough one, but I’m going to go with poker players here. Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey, Michael Mizrachi, and Doyle Brunson (RIP).
Phenom Nemesis (all in fun): Haha I think Mr. Wo0. If you ask MDPoker87, we have had hundreds of battles he has witnessed himself!
What brought you to Phenom: Saw Alec Torelli post about it on X and signed up. Didn’t play for months until one night I woke up thinking about the PHNM token rakeback opportunity. Deposited and started grinding the next morning.
Hobbies outside of poker: Anything outdoors. Beach, hiking, camping. Tennis with my wife, golf with friends, plus yoga and gym time.
Favorite sports teams: Seattle Mariners. Seattle Seahawks. Seattle Supersonics, bring them back!
Favorite types of music and bands to listen to: Really gotten into instrumental music in recent years. Love melody, harmony, and rhythm. Always loved songs that included the piano.
Favorite TV show: Don’t watch much TV anymore, but Breaking Bad is all-time. Also loved Game of Thrones and The Mandalorian.
Favorite meal: Go-to is a grilled chicken Caesar salad with fresh parmesan. A great steak as well.
What are you usually doing when playing online: Multi-tabling with sports on in the background. NFL RedZone/Seahawks on Sundays. NBA or Mariners games during the week.
Any final words: Poker’s been a lifelong passion. Phenom’s ownership model, revenue share, and rakeback with the ability to stack PHNM (essentially stock in the site) is the best opportunity I’ve seen for players in a long time, maybe ever. I’m genuinely telling people about Phenom and what’s possible here. Even with the changes, excited for the growth ahead!
